Simon Crawford-Phillips makes his long-awaited debut as the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra’s conductor in ‘The Fearless’, a programme including music by Joan Tower, Aaron Copland's Symphony No.3 (including Fanfare for the Common Man) and the Finnish premiere of Sven-David Sandström’s Cello Concerto with Torleif Thedéen as its soloist. Joan Tower’s ‘Fanfare for the Uncommon Woman’ is dedicated to all adventurous, fearless women. To join Simon and Helsinki Philharmonic in concert click here.

In another ‘fearless’ move, Simon has recently launched a concert series in Stockholm - entitled ‘Musikaliska Möten’ (Musical Meetings). These dynamic events feature unexpected pairings of music with readings, film and other genres and are set in the heart of Stockholm at the unique ‘Musikaliska Kvarteret‘ - Stockholm’s oldest concert hall. For his first pairing, Simon, together with his Västerås Sinfonietta, meets the Swedish folk music trio ODE consisting of Olle Linder (mandola, 8-string guitar, percussion and vocals), Dan Knagg (percussion, vocals, guitar) and Emilia Amper (key harp and vocals). Music by Mozart, Johansson/Riedel, Amper, Knagg and Haydn features.

Upcoming conducting debuts include two visits to the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, one in a shared programme with Pekka Kuusisto. Opera projects include two Menotti operas at the Academy in Gothenburg, and Simon makes return visits to conduct orchestras including the Swedish Radio Symphony, Swedish Chamber and Nordic Chamber. At the keyboard Simon will record two portrait albums with the Kungsbacka Piano Trio for BIS records in music by Sebastian Fagerlund and Daniel Börtz. This is followed by a trio album with Malin Broman and Rick Stotijn featuring a new trio by Britta Byström.
